Croatia captain Luka ModriModric Wants Croatia’s national team to skip over 20 years ago

Croatia captain Luka Modric hopes his team can get past the achievements of their predecessors who finished third in the 1998 World Cup.

“Hopefully Croatia 2018 can go far from the team that competed in 1998,” said Luka Modric as quoted from the website Goal.

Modric’s hopes may come true this year. Croatia are now locking a ticket to the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup after eliminating the host Russia via round of penalties on Sunday (08/07/2018) early morning hrs.

This means that Croatia need just one more victory to be able to print a new history and pass the achievements 20 years ago.

Responding to this, Modric is optimistic that all elements of the Croatian national team are the best people in their field.

“Through the World Cup semi-finals after 1998, of course, we are proud of it, Croatia is going through a difficult and often unlucky path and now we are paying off the debt,” Modric said.

“We have a strong team, and great staff and coaches, I hope we can go to the final,” said the Real Madrid player.

In the semi-final match later, Croatia will face another European representative, England team.

If you want to beat England, Croatia should be careful and improve performance because their game trend is in decline.

Successfully wiped out three matches in Group D phase, Croatia never won in normal time when entering the fall phase.

Croatia have to struggle for a semifinals ticket because they can only win on penalties against Denmark (16 big) and Russia (top 8).

The match between Croatia versus England will take place at Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday (07/12/2018) or Thursday morning pm.
