President Distributes 240 Endowment Land Certificates

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) distributed 240 certificates of endowment lands for worship places across West Java province here on Thursday.

“We have only distributed 240 certificates, but we have set a target to issue two thousand endowment certificates this year for lands that will be used as worship places (such as mosques) and lands for Islamic boarding schools,” the president said when handing over the certificates.

He noted that the Agrarian Minister/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) had been assigned to achieve the target of distributing two thousand certificates this year.

Jokowi remarked that he was willing to distribute the land certificates for worship places soon as land plots are prone to conflicts.

Earlier, Jokowi embarked on a two-day working visit to the districts of Majalengka and Kuningan in West Java Province.

Jokowi and his entourage departed aboard the Indonesia-1 Aircraft from the Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase at 8:50 a.m. local time and landed at the West Java International Airport of Kertajati at 9:21 p.m. local time on Thursday. The aircraft made an inaugural landing at the airport.

On arrival, the president was greeted by West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti on the stairs of the aircraft.

Jokowi expressed hope that the airport would be able to provide best services to Indonesians travelling to and from West Java.

“I also hope that the people of Majalengka District and West Java Province would be able to enjoy the economic benefits,” he remarked.

During his working visit, the president will also meet representatives of the OSIS and distribute Indonesia Smart Cards to the community.

Furthermore, he will head to Kuningan District to continue his working visit on Friday.

The president is accompanied by Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning Sofyan Djalil, and Chief of the Presidential Staff Moeldoko, among others.
