Indonesian Furniture Products Showcased at Exhibition in Canada

Indonesian furniture products were showcased in the Canadian Furniture Show at the International Center, Missisauga, Ontario, Toronto, Canada, considered to be the largest exhibition in the country.

Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) of Canada Rafika Arfani stated that the exhibition of Canadian Furniture Show aimed to facilitate key players in the furniture industry, such as manufacturers, retailers, designers, importers, and suppliers in North America.

“Participation in the exhibition, held over four decades, is aimed at promoting furniture products and home decor from Indonesia in the Canadian market, and we also got buyers,” Arfani noted in a statement here on Sunday.

Some countries that participated in the exhibition include the People`s Republic of China, Ukraine, Portugal, Italy, Singapore, and Canada. Some 250 exhibitors took part in the exhibition, with a total of seven thousand visitors in three days.

“This year is the third time for Indonesia to participate in the Canadian Furniture Show since 2016. Promotion through this exhibition is done consistently and continuously,” she remarked.

ITPC Vancouver and Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia to Toronto took Komme International and Casamia Home, two local Indonesian diaspora importers. Komme International, based in Missisauga, Ontario, has been in the business of exporting Indonesian furniture products to Canada and the United States for two decades.

Meanwhile, Casamia Home, headquartered in Coquitlam, British Columbia, and Bali, produces a variety of home decor products.

The exhibition featured home decor products, natural wooden decorations, clay crafts, wood accessories, and tea tables and tables made of petrified wood, among others.

In 2017, the exports of Indonesian furniture products to Canada had reached to US$14 million. During the January-March 2018 period, exports of these products to Canada amounted to $3.42 million, or an increase of 7.9 percent as compared to the previous year.

During the exhibition, ITPC of Vancouver also promoted the 33rd Trade Expo of Indonesia 2018 to be held on October 24-28, 2018, at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Banten Province.
