50 Upstream Oil, Gas Projects to Start Production in 2018-2027

As many as 50 upstream oil and gas projects are targeted to start operations within the next 10 years by 2027.

The projects have a total production capacity of 84,700 barrels per day of oil and 6,100 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas.

“It will need the support of all stakeholders for the projects to start production on time and contribute to the nation`s oil and gas production,” Amien Sunaryadi, head of the Special Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), noted at the forum of oil and gas production facility (FFPM 2018) here on Wednesday.

Of the total projects, 20 are onshore while 30 others are offshore projects.

Total investment in the projects is expected to reach more than US$11.93 billion, or some Rp160 trillion.

“The amount has yet to include investment on the sea gas project in Abadi Field in the Masela Block as well as the Gehem and Gendalo fields of the Indonesia Deep water Development Project that have been planned for development,” he explained.

“The investment is expected to have a multiplier effect that could drive the nation`s economy,” Sunaryadi added.

The forum was attended by practitioners from the upstream oil and gas industry, especially those involved in project design, management, and production facility maintenance.

FFPM 2018 was organized by SKK Migas, in cooperation with the Indonesian Oil and Gas Facility Experts Association, to share information on project design, execution, and maintenance of the oil and gas production facility.

The event themed “Design Optimization, Project and Oil and Gas Production Facility Maintenance” is expected to produce recommendations for policy makers in the upstream oil and gas industry, Sunaryadi remarked.

He stated that the task force will support any efforts to optimize project execution and good maintenance performance in order to achieve the target of oil lifting.
