Indonesia Wins Bronze Medal in Archery World Cup

Indonesia took home a bronze medal at the 2018 Archery World Cup held in Shanghai, China.

Indonesia`s bronze medal was won by Diananda Choirunisa and Riau Ega Agata, who played in the recurve mixed team event, the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai noted in a statement to an ANTARA in Xiemen, China, on Monday.

Choirunisa and Agata beat Brady Ellison and Khatuna Lorig of the United States in a mixed team event, with a score of 6-0, to win the bronze medal.

Earlier, the Choirunisa-Agata pair had outclassed mixed teams of Italy and France, with a score of 5-1 and 6-2 respectively.

Unfortunately, the Indonesian team`s run to qualify for the semifinals was halted after losing to the world`s strongest team from South Korea.

Indonesia sent a total of 14 archers to participate in the Archery World Cup. The 14 archers are among those groomed for the 18th Asian Games 2018 for which Indonesia is the host.

“We are quite proud of the bronze medal won by the Indonesian athletes, as the Archery World Cup brought together 300 athletes from 46 countries,” Siti Nugraheni Mauludiah, the Indonesian consul general based in Shanghai, stated.

South Korea emerged as the overall champion by winning three gold and two silver medals. Meanwhile, host China only won a bronze medal.
