5 Things To Know About Agnez Mo

Indonesian singer and actress Agnez Mo just announced she has signed to 300 Entertainment, home of Fetty Wap, Migos, Young Thug and other A-listers of hip-hop and rock. The news comes after a banner year for Mo, who released her first international album X last October and made headlines for a rumored relationship with Chris Brown.

If you’re new to this multimedia-spanning star who’s making waves in 2018, here are 5 facts to know about Agnez Mo.

1. She cut her teeth acting as a teenager.

While Mo is currently making waves for singles like “Coke Bottle,” a collaboration with Timbaland and T.I., her roots are in acting. Specifically, Mo acted in the soap operas Lupus Millennia and Mr. Hologram back in 1999 as a child actress. She went on to transform her image into a teen artist with a starring role in Pernaikahan Dini, a soap opera in her home country.

2. She has a philanthropic side.

Mo has made charitable donations and appearances for causes that fight human trafficking and drug abuse. Not only was she appointed as an anti-drug ambassador by the DEA back in 2007, she had the same role for the MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) organization in 2010.

3. This isn’t her first dipped toe in American pop and R&B.

The singer opened for Boys 2 Men back in 2007 when they hit Jakarta, and went on to cover Michael Jackson’s “Heal the World” at the Seoul World Cup. American collaborations soon ensued — Mo recorded a duet with Michael Bolton for the Asian version of his compilation album Gems: The Duets Album. Now, she works closely with A-listers like Timbaland and T.I.

4. She recently made a big Vogue appearance.

Mo appeared in Vogue’s March 2018 issue, wearing clothes by Balenciaga and posing with figures like South Sudanese model Alek Wek and transgender model Teddy Quinlivan. This isn’t her first time in the magazine — she had been interviewed twice by Vogue’s senior fashion writer Janelle Okwadu in 2016 and 2017 — but it nonetheless made a splash.

5. She had a rumored relationship with Chris Brown.

The singer was spotted by news outlets cozying up to her sometime-collaborator, the embattled Chris Brown, which ruffled some feathers in the media. However, Mo is adamant that she prefers to keep her relationships private.
